Successful Completion of the Lecture Cycle within the Jean Monnet Module „Harmonisation of Serbian law with the EU acquis in the field of environmental protection”

As part of the Jean Monnet module entitled "European sustainable values in environmental protection and agriculture policies", which is supported by the European Commission and the European Executive Agency for Education and Culture (EACEA), the first cycle of the course "Harmonization of Serbian legislation with the acquis of the EU in the field of environmental protection" was successfully implemented at the University of Economics from May to June 2025.

During the course, students had the opportunity to become familiar with the legal achievements of the European Union in the field of environmental protection, their legal effect, and the way they are applied in the legal systems of member states. They were introduced to the obligations that Serbia has undertaken regarding the harmonization of its legal system with EU legal achievements in the accession process. They were also acquainted with the provisions of the Stabilization and Association Agreement between Serbia and the European Union, as well as the Treaty establishing the Energy Community, which relate to environmental protection. They were particularly exposed to the challenges that Serbia faces within Chapter 27: Environment and Climate Change, as part of Cluster 4: Green Agenda and Sustainable Connectivity.

Students will be able to apply the acquired knowledge through a student debate "European sustainable values in the field of environment and agriculture: transfer of good practices". This integrated approach to teaching confirmed the importance of the Jean Monnet module in strengthening the knowledge, skills and competences of students in the field of harmonisation of Serbian law with the EU acquis in the field of environmental protection.
